Adly is a great napper...she goes down easily and sleeps around 2 hours. It's an easy routine and that gives Holt down time, me time for me and then some time for Holt and I to hang together. However, because Adly is a "late" morning sleeper, she can't fall asleep for nap until around 1:30ish. So, that puts her to wake up around 3:30/4ish. Well, my favorite book says at least 4 hours between end of nap & night time, in order for them to sleep soundly and get what they need in a large chunk (the more important sleep). I've always been somewhat of a nap Nazi. I can't help it...it's for them and me...I admit! But, they've been so good at it.
Okay, so my dilemma is that if she wakes at 3:30, I don't put her down until 8...she will sometimes talk for 20 minutes and then drift off, but lately it's been more like an hour or so. I feel terrible for her. She seems happy and content, but who wants to start their night trying to think of things to do in your bed so that you'll eventually fall asleep? Not me! Holt would have come running out demanding a change...but not easy Adly...she's going w/ the flow. But, I can't stand it. So, if I have her not nap, that's taking away her rest time that she seems to need (or not?) and like, but if she doesn't nap, she goes to bed early and gets her chunk of good sleep at night. I wish she would tell me what to do. I'm going day by day...Hmmm...to nap or not to nap...help!
Old School Advice - I would be consistant and try to get Adly to sleep around 1:15 - 1:30. If she sleeps - GREAT - if she doesn't - at least she has rested. She is on the borderline or cuspt. She is tired, and needs a little afternoon rest- but you can't force it. Tough -so do whatever you can. It will work itself out.
