Bees have feathers?

Not sure where this came from, but when something is extreme, like too hot or cold, etc., Adly says..."It's hotter (or colder, etc.) than a BEE FEATHER." 
What is that?  It's hilarious.  Holt loves when she says it.  It really cracks him up.

When she gets home from any activity outside the house, she comes home and goes directly to play...in her room or playroom...alone.  Holt can't understand that.  So, yesterday she went directly into the playroom.  After a little while he went in there and started to bug (like he always does).  She says, very firmly, "I'm trying to do my own thing in here.  Go out and do yours."  Hilarious! ...& so her mother.

Just wanted to add this b/c I haven't in a while.  Now that Missy is good about her own blog, I don't post them as much.  But, here they are.  I love you R & R! Thanks for coming to Adly's dance performance!

 Attention all parents of children w/ tender heads.  This is the brush for you!!  Have you seen it?  It's called The Knot Genie.  It's AWESOME!  I've brushed Adly's hair w/ a baby brush until now.  She's 4!  A baby brush wasn't getting the job done.  She loves this brush.  Wet or dry it doesn't hurt her.  I got mine at Pigtails & Crewcuts.

For some reason these bristles are shaped perfectly to remove knots and do it kindly.

Sweet Romeo...

Introducing the new member of a very special family...Romeo Sebastian M.  Isn't he sweet?!!  This is Massimo & Luchi's brother.   Their mommy is my good friend.  She's my really cool, hippie-ish friend...love her.  The coolest part...this baby was born at home.  Happy, healthy, easy birth...I can't imagine, but it's so cool.  Very cool. 

I can't wait to meet him on Wednesday night.

Horseshoe Bay...solo!

We gave John the weekend off.  I took the kids, by myself, to Horseshoe Bay Resort.  Here we are ready to leave.  Do I look scared?

 John insisted that I take this one.  He played golf most of his weekend.

 Holt & I kept singing to this pretty Macaw..."I want to take you to Rio, Rio, Rio..."  Holt knows more of the words of course.  Did you see that movie?  It was really cute.

 Lots and lots of this!  Adly started swimming underwater this weekend.  She's been putting her face in a for a couple summers, but now she's moving around under there too!  No more floaties!

 The beach is just beyond those lawn chairs.  Really pretty.

Sorry for the long post.  We had a fun time together.  I only yelled at Holt once.  I was proud of myself for driving there, checking in and doing all the things grown ups do on trips...by myself...w/ kids!  Maybe I'll do it more often...maybe. 

semi-update

Father's Day!  Holt & John took Pappy to play golf.  Adly and I met them for lunch and a swim.  Holt loves being one the guys out there on the course.  He says his favorite parts are the cart and the Gatorade.

 Adly's gift to her daddy.  She painted it all by herself.  I framed it! (again, sorry it's turned funny)

 Ever since my family gave John a Wii for his birthday...this is what my house looks like...a lot.  I'm just glad it's so active!

 This lady only plays it once in a while.  But, she's gotten really good at bowling!

Isn't VBS great?  Seriously, I love it.  There's so much more open prayer at my house this week.  I loved worshiping w/ lots of little faces...in a way that they understood it.  They all wanted to be there to listen and sing and dance.  It's just amazing to look around and feel so fortunate to be in this big room of children shouting out "I am not forgotten.  He knows my name."  Priceless.  Really, I'll always remember these times.

VBS & swimming...what a fun day!!

Just stuff...

Shrinky Dinks...remember those?  So fun!

 We colored and shrunk around 12 monsters.  Now we have to connect their body parts w/ brads & pipe cleaners.  aka...Summer hours passing quickly.

 Not a good pic of me (excuse the greasy hair), but a memory here.  John and I took Holt to Alamo Drafthouse for the first time.  We saw Kung Fu Panda 2, ate lunch and candy...oh and the best part...he got to drink Fanta!

 Little centerpiece project w/ my kids.  They painted the "A" & helped layer the stuff. 

I LOVE it on our kitchen table.

 (Brooke, can you believe this?)  I'm not a puzzle fan, but my little lady is!  It's so good for your brain, but it wears mine out.  This was a 100 piece puzzle from the $ store.  I helped her, but she did a lot of it.  She's done a puzzle (24 pieces and more) every day, and several times a day, for about a week.  It's a new hobby.  I have friends who leave puzzles out, w/ teeny tiny pieces, to just "work on".  I can't see myself doing that, but, you never know, this lady might encourage that kind of thing around here.

First real dance recital!

Adly had her first dance recital.  It was so sweet!  Her class did great.  3 & 4 year olds!

p.s. Adly is into the fake smile now.  Wonder how long that fake smile phase lasts?  It's hilarious!

A couple happenings...

Adly got her stitches out.  Thank you, Sara!!  It looks great.  Phew!

So nice to have a nurse practitioner for a cousin!

 Look who joined us at the pool on their mommy's bday?  First pool dip and we didn't get a picture of them in the actual pool.  It's a lot of work w/ two of these little guys.  They were so cute!  They both liked it too.

So, every morning my sister and my two cutie pie nephews stroll over.  We take them out and play w/ them for about 15 or so minutes, then she takes them back home to eat.  It's quick, but we love it. 
So, yesterday they came and left.  Adly was sitting next to me and says "Mom, I think Rex & Ren pooped while they were here b/c I still smell it."  I said "No, I don't think so, they weren't in this room."  She says, "But, mom, it still smells like poop."  "I don't know", I say.  Then she says "Oh, mom.  It's not them, it's your breathe."  Great!!!  Good thing it was morning, maybe not even 8 and I hadn't brushed my teeth (gross, I know), but man!  It's rough around here.

Memorial Day FUN!

Thanks to the C fam, we had a blast on Memorial Day!  Great friends, food & fun!

 This thing is the best!  You don't need a pool if you have one of these.  All 4 kids had so much fun on this thing.  Thanks to the W family for lugging it over!  So fun!

Missy and I ended our day on the cruisers...bikes and a buzz (all the children were in bed by that time, just fyi).
