Allowance...

We finally found a piggie bank that might lend a hand in teaching our kids about money. Rather than just dropping the money in the gut of the bank, you get to put the funds in different categories. We gave this to Holt for his allowance (which we just started a few months ago). We explained to Adly that you had to be 5 in our house to earn allowance and that she would get her own piggie when she's 5. I think she bought it.
How cool is this pig?! I bought it on Amazon, but they also have their own website. We talked tonight about charities and how you can help by donating your own money to those in need. He seemed especially interested in the Humane Society...that's my boy! He also said that he was going to use his "spend" money to buy Adly the Cinderella movie (she's never seen it, but he's heard that girls really like it) & his friend Sean needs a box for his rock collection. How sweet is this? He also stated that he was saving for a pet...a mouse in fact. Well, once I told him he'd be cleaning the mouse's poop and pee every few days, he changed his mind and said he'd just add a fish to the tank!
