Thanksgiving crafting & one BIG turkey!

Now this is one plump and perky turkey!  Missy was a good sport and let me do a little crafting on her!  Hilarious!!  Rex & Ren will like this.
Oreo turkeys (did you know they now make Reese's Peanut Butter Whoppers?!).
Post-it wall of Thanks...thanks to our very sweet babysitter, Kayla
 A royal turkey...made by a princess!
Missy doesn't like pumpkin pie so Holt, Adly and I made her a pumpkin pie look alike...sugar cookie cake!
Holt had to disguise a turkey at school.  He decided to turn him into Tony Romo...sling and all! (See, B? pretty authentic!)
Had to throw this one in here...Missy's been crafting this for 35 weeks!!

This was my favorite craft of the season.  I played art teacher one Saturday morning. LOVED it!!!
Here are our supplies (well, most of them)...canvas, acrylic paint, silk leaves, little birdies, wooden sunflowers & brushes...oh and hot glue of course!
We painted the canvas then drew our trees.  Holt is filling his in w/ the base color here.
I taught them about texturizing.  We wanted our trees to actually look like they had bark.  They loved this and were pretty good at it.
We painted the grass next...a lesson on brush strokes, thin versus thick.  Then we glued the leaves, sunflowers and birds on the tree.
Seriously, my favorite craft ever.  They were so proud and turned out so pretty!! (Hard to tell by their fake smiles though!)

Happy Thanksgiving! or Thankful Thursday: the family version...

I am SO thankful for my family.  I love them dearly...just like everyone does, but especially dearly around the holidays.  Again, giving a reason or two for each as to why I'm thankful for them.  (This week has made me think a lot about gratefulness...I need to include an "I'm thankful for..." post more often...just b/c)
*my husband- for his thoughtfulness, love for our children and his sense of humor (oh and his incredible work ethic of course)
*my son- for his compassionate heart...although it may not always seem like it, it is so big!...& his love for all things crafty like me, too!
*my daughter- for her unbelievable smile, sparkly eyes and kind soul
*my mom- for her out loud humor, compassion for all things living and love for her family (especially grand kids)
*my sister-b/c I don't know if any other aunt could love that much...seriously!  & for our closeness and security around each other.  & of course for making me two nephews at once!
*my brother in law (David)- b/c he loves my kids dearly and he'll make a great daddy to my nephews.
*my dad- for everything he does to make my kids love him so much!
*my Biggin'- for his very big heart and constant generosity, just b/c that's who he is.
*my grandparents- b/c they are just too cute...my grandmother might actually be a saint
*my aunt Patty- speaking of saints...for always listening to me, no matter how long I talked
*my cousins (Terri, Sara & Becky)- b/c our childhood would not have been the same or as good w/o them!
There are tons more, but these are the ones I'm closest to.  I am SO Thankful for all of you!
*I'll be back to posting pictures and less sap, soon!

Thankful Wednesday: friends version

I am thankful for ALL of my many friends.  God blessed me w/ lots of them, but these are some specific reasons for the ones I see or talk to weekly...(p.s.  family will be tomorrow...if you fall into that category don't wonder where you're mentioned here) :) (mom)  Oh and these are not in order of best liked!

*Mary- for your unbelievable way w/ children...your acceptance of my son, even when he's crazy and bugs the *h^t out of your daughter, your parenting and your generous and thoughtful friendship
*Diana- for our amazing quick bond w/ our baby girls right there in the middle :)
*Lisa- for your strength as a mom, sister and daughter during all you've been through
*Brooke- for your honesty about yourself and life in general & for your love of all things crafty like me!
*Erin- for your "counseling" me.  For the way you parent your two beautifully smart daughters and your love of my kids!
*Gita- for being my "token"...for our talks on everything and your laugh
*Neva- for your sweetness, thoughtfulness and just plain good hearted kindness
*Brandie- for always being yourself and teaching me that letting your kids express themselves is so much more important than caring about character clothing!...& of course, all of your hippie ways
*Camie- for praying w/ me.
*Carrie- for your passion and your beautiful way in life w/ your kids
*Terri H- for your generosity and extreme creativity
I LOVE my friends! Each of them have so many wonderful qualities...these were just some on each. (if you weren't mentioned, it doesn't mean I don't love you too...I do!)

Strange and random...(this post is dumb)

*Missy critiqued this post and said it was dumb.  Sorry for wasting everyone's time.  (What a little....she is!)
Last night at dinner Adly says "Mommy, did you take off your leg b/c I saw it up there." (pointing to a little table).
"What?" says mom, dad & Holt!
"Well, I saw your leg up there.  I thought it was your leg b/c it looked like the same color."
"What are you talking about, silly?" says mom.
"I know you didn't take off your leg, right?  I see it right there." says Adly pointing to my leg.
We all cracked up.  Daddy says, "I think you had a funny dream."
"No, really, there was a leg there." says Adly.
"Now I'm scared." says Holt.
"Why are you scared?" says Daddy.
"Because if that wasn't mommy's leg, who's was it?  There's probably someone's leg laying around the house somewhere and that makes me scared." says Holt.
"Yep, there is!" says Adly.
What is going on around here?!!

More fun times...

Punky Brewster showed up at our house...tiara, rainbow shirt, leggings, tutu, tights, ballet shoes and all!
whoa!  33 weeks & counting...(sorry, Missy...too cute to not post!)

Firehouse Subs for a girls' lunch...
Then to Kiddie Acres for a friend's 4th birthday! (I think these are the same boats from when I was a kid!)

The Warriors had a great season.  They only lost one game.  Unfortunately they lost (just barely) in the Sugar bowl.  He LOVED flag football!!
One of the Warriors walking away w/ their medal!
Adly loves to play w/ Landon on the sidelines.
I took Captain America (even though he didn't know who he was, he liked the muscles) & Super Woman(note the yellow bracelet on her left arm...her addition to the costume!) to a party just for Superheroes!
Looking studly...(flash forward...a high school football photo!)
Superhero obstacle course (note the bracelet, again)!
Spiderman & Bat girl hung w/ my Super Woman!
Holt's new favorite snack (but it's way too expensive and messy for him to have it as often as he'd like!).
Meet my Spotlight Stallion!!  He got to stand up at the Friday assembly, get recognized and stand on the stage w/ the other spotlights!!!  He was SO excited!!  Adly and I were there to watch it all.
